Garden Artisan is presented by Laurie Eggenton MCIHort, MPGCA, DipRSA. He studied at Oaklands College St Albans and Birkbeck College, University of London where he was awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Ecology and Conservation. He served his apprenticeship working for prestigious landscape companies in London and the Home Counties, before in 1985, ‘branching’ out as a freelance garden designer, bringing to bear his skill in designing and project managing the construction of traditional gardens, country estates and the wider landscape.

 

A lifelong interest in natural history is at the heart of his design philosophy. Inspiration has been harnessed from a deep knowledge of horticulture, ecology and construction techniques as well as ancient and modern architecture. He has overseen the construction of gardens at the prestigious RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows, winning 2 Golds, 2 Silver Gilts and 1 Bronze medal.

 

Garden projects he has worked on have been featured in RHS journal The Garden, Practical Gardening Magazine and various books and other publications.

 

Laurie is a member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, the Professional Garden Consultants Association, the Professional Gardeners Guild and the Guild of Horticultural Judges.
